New Product Tryout- Progresso Recipe Starters

This week, we did not have any plans for Sunday!  So happy; a day to relax and make Sunday dinner.  I wanted something for the crock pot and decided on beef stew.  I tried one of the new Progresso Recipe Starters, the fire roasted tomato.  Here's the recipe I made:

3 pounds of beef cubes, dredged with flour seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano
5 carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch sections
6 potatoes, peeled and diced
1 cup wine, preferably red
1 can Progresso Recipe Starters, fire roasted tomato
2 cups beef stock
1 cup frozen peas

In batches, brown the beef in olive oil. Place beef in crock pot.  Add carrots and potatoes to pan, season with salt and pepper, and brown slightly. Once browned, add to meat in crock pot.  Deglaze pan with wine and reduce until there is about 1/2 cup left.  Add fire roasted starter and simmer.  Add the wine mixture to the crock pot.  Add the beef stock to the crockpot.  Cook mixture about 8 hours on low.  Before serving, add peas and heat through.
